Dr. Jeff LaHuis
Owner, DVM
Dr. Jeff LaHuis hails from lower Michigan originally and graduated from Michigan State University in 1995 with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a B.S. in Animal Science. Dr. Jeff bought Sault Animal Hospital in 2010 while active in the US Army Reserve Veterinary Corps. There he was in command of a veterinary team responsible for food safety and care of military working dogs. Dr. Jeff resides locally with his family on their farm, along with their slew of animals. Dr. Jeff is also a veteran serving as a soldier in the US Army.
Dr. Hailey Love
DVM
Dr. Hailey started at Sault Animal Hospital in 2022 following graduation from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University, where she also has a BS in Animal Science. She originally hails from the thumb of Michigan where she grew up on her family’s dairy farm. She now lives locally with her husband, two cats and Great Pyranees. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time on her farm, and exploring the UP. With her background in dairy, her favorite animal will always be the Holstein Cow, which is why she has her own “herd” of black and white “Holstein” cats!
Dr. Kaitlyn Goodman
DVM
Dr. Kaitlyn is a 2025 Graduate from Michigan State University. She is a local that has returned to serve the community with both small and large animal veterinary care.
Her family raises show cattle and supports local 4-H kids in their livestock journeys. She has a special love for reproductive management in all species and would love to be a part of achieving your goals! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, playing with her dog and spending time on the lake in a kayak.
Marci LaHuis
Office Manager
Marci is the wife of Dr. Jeff and is co-owner and the practice manager. She was born and raised in Sault, MI and holds a BS in Business Administration and Management with a minor in Finance and Accounting. She enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. Her favorite animals are dogs, cats and deer.
Jennifer K.
Office Manager
Jennifer is our clinic Office Manager and has worked here for over three years starting in reception. Jennifer is originally from Grayling, MI and has lived in Sault Ste. Marie, MI for over 15 years. She is married and has a stepdaughter and two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, boating, listening to music and traveling in the Summer. Her favorite animals are dogs and horses.
Alex
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Alex is native to the area and graduated from Rudyard High School. She then went on to attend Baker College and gained a degree in Veterinary Technology. Alex is now a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and works full time here at Sault Animal Hospital. Alex has one cat at home name Finnley and enjoys hockey, hiking and art in her spare time.
Megan
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Megan has been working here at Sault Animal Hospital for 13 years now and has more than 24 years of experience in the field. Megan is working her dream job as head of surgery and loves what she does!
Kayla
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Kayla grew up in Cedarville, MI and moved to the Sault in 2014 for school. She has always loved animals of every shape and size. Growing up, Kayla had dogs and show rabbits. Now she enjoys her three cats at home and training her orange tabby as if he were a hunting dog!
Sarah
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Sarah was born and raised in Pickford, MI and now resides in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Sarah has one dog, Charlie, and one cat, Gus. She enjoys hiking, painting, reading, and horseback riding. Her favorite animals are horses, dogs, & cats!
Autumn
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Autumn is born in Flint, MI and raised in Cheboygan, MI. She moved to Sault Ste. Marie, MI to be closer to her mother. Autumn lives with her mother, brother, husband and daughter! She enjoys video games and spending time with family and friends. She has cats and dogs at home for pets, but loves all animals. Her favorite animal is an African Wild Dog! Her passion for animals has directed her into the Veterinary path to be a Vet Assistant and it is her pleasure to take care of your family members!
Grace
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Grace is originally from Newberry, MI and now resides in Sault Ste. Marie. With a lifelong love for animals cultivated by her upbringing with dogs and rabbits, she is proud to be a Vet Tech Assistant here at Sault Animal Hospital. She is currently studying to become a Licensed Vet Tech (LVT). She enjoys reading, being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and taking care of animals.
Tricia
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Tricia was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, MI and graduated from Malcolm High School in 2017.
She has one son, Easton, and grew up with three dogs—Callie, Josie, and Lucy. Tricia enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the beach with her son, and taking road trips. Her favorite animals are dogs, cats, and giraffes.
Eliscia
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Eliscia was born in Colorado and moved to Michigan in high school. Eventually, she moved locally and purchased a home just North of Pickford and plans to turn it into a ranch. Eliscia has always had a passion for animals – large and small and always knew that she would have a career in the Veterinary field. She enjoys spending time with her two bird dogs at home, riding horses, and turning her home into her dream ranch.
Kinley
Student, Veterinary Technician Assistant
Kinley was born and raised in Sault Sainte Marie, MI and is the step-daughter and daughter to owners Dr. Jeff and Marci LaHuis. Kinley enjoys working at the clinic in the Summers and after school to gain experience in the Veterinary field, as she aspired to become a Veterinarian when she gets older. Kinley has lots of dogs, cats and horses at home!

Jennifer is our part time front Veterinary Receptionist. She is originally from L’Anse, MI and has lived in Sault Ste. Marie, MI since 2012. Jennifer is married and has two sons at home. She also has her seven-year-old pride and joy Yellow Lab dog, Marley. Jennifer enjoys being outdoors in the sun, kayaking, going to the beach and playing cornhole in her spare time. Her favorite animal is a dog.

Kaylin was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Sault Sainte Marie in 2020 with her family for a change of scenery. She enjoys watching hockey with her family, lying out in the sun, and loves all animals. She has two cats at home – Bobette and Tofu
Jenna
Veterinary Receptionist
Jenna was born and raised in Sault Sainte Marie. After High School, Jenna went on to school for Equine Massage Rehabilitation and Equine and Canine Kinesiology Taping. Following her studies, she then moved to South Dakota with one of her personal horses to learn new methods of equine training and riding. She now resides locally so she could focus on her personal horses and her puppy, Nellie Beans.
Elizabeth
Veterinary Receptionist
Elizabeth was born and raised in Bruce Mines, Ontario Canada and moved here locally in 2017. She, her husband and two children own Lowes Farms and breed pigs for 4-H and the Fair. She enjoys spending time with her family, loves all livestock and animals, and enjoys watching her children at the motocross track. She is also active in the Chippewa Country Fair community with her children as the show for 4-H.
